9th Annual Conference On Green Hydrogen In India
Organised by: RENEWABLE WATCH
This two-day conference aims to highlight the growth trends, policy developments, project pipeline, and plans of various stakeholders in the green hydrogen space. This event will bring together policymakers, regulators, state agencies, renewable energy developers, large industrial consumers, oil and gas companies, electrolyser manufacturers, technology providers, researchers, consultants, legal firms, and investors to discuss upcoming opportunities, key challenges, and solutions.
- India’s energy sector is undergoing rapid transformation as it becomes cleaner and greener, and green hydrogen is expected to play a critical role in this transition to clean energy especially for the hard-to-abate industries and the mobility sector. Moreover, the country is expected to become a major green ammonia export hub owing to some of the lowest renewable energy costs globally, enabling policy support and interest from the industry.
- Ever since the launch of the landmark National Green Hydrogen Mission last year, there have been a slew of developments on the policy side. Incentives have been announced for green hydrogen production and electrolyser manufacturing along with waiver on ISTS charges for green hydrogen production projects. Further, guidelines have been released for green hydrogen use in transport, steel, and shipping sectors, for setting up hydrogen hubs and funding testing facilities. In addition, various states have also launched their own green hydrogen policies.
- Meanwhile, the recent auctions for green hydrogen production and electrolyser manufacturing were immensely successful resulting in allocation of large capacities and helping in drawing greater participation from the private sector.
- In addition to auctions, energy intensive industries and oil and gas players announced green hydrogen projects for reducing their carbon emissions. Simultaneously, various renewable energy developers in public and private sectors have drawn up plans to set up large green hydrogen and ammonia projects for both domestic use and export purposes. Electrolyser manufacturing is also expected to come up in a big way as private enterprises foray in this space.
- Even then, some bottlenecks need to be addressed to reach the country’s target for 5 million metric tonnes per annum of annual green hydrogen production capacities by 2030.
